Hugo
Cabret (Hugo) è un film del 2011 in 3D diretto da Martin Scorsese e con protagonisti Asa Butterfield, Chloë
Moretz, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Lee, Sacha Baron Cohen e Jude Law, tratto 

dal romanzo La straordinaria
invenzione di Hugo Cabret di Brian Selznick del 2007.

Il film è uscito nelle sale statunitensi a partire
dal 23 novembre 2011. In Italia è stato presentato in anteprima alla 6ª edizione del Festival Internazionale del
Film di Roma mentre 

l'uscita nel circuito delle sale cinematografiche, prevista inizialmente per il 16
dicembre 2011[2] è avvenuta il 3 febbraio 2012, in linea con la partecipazione del film agli Academy 

Awards.

Il 15 gennaio 2012, in occasione della premiazione dei Golden Globe, il film ha fatto guadagnare a
Martin Scorsese il premio come miglior regista.

Ai Premi Oscar 2012 si aggiudica 5 statuette su 11
nomination.

Se pensavamo che il genio cinematografico di Martin Scorsese non avrebbe più potuto
sorprenderci, ecco arrivare “Hugo Cabret” a dimostrare che ci sbagliavamo. Nel bene e nel male questo 

adattamento scritto da John Logan e tratto dal romanzo di Brian Selznick è il primo vero tentativo del
cineasta di realizzare una “favola” edificante, cosa che in passato aveva tentato 

soltanto nel
prologo di “Alice non abita più qui”, datato addirittura 1974.

Hugo Cabret
è un orfano, che vive segretamente tra le mura della stazione ferroviaria di Montparnasse a Parigi negli anni trenta.
Del padre orologiaio conserva un automa rotto che si ostina 

a voler riparare. Con l'aiuto dell'eccentrica
Isabelle scopre che l'automa conserva segreti che riportano a galla vicende del passato. Sono storie e ricordi che
coinvolgono anche il padrino 

della ragazza, Georges Méliès. Questi si rivela essere uno dei più
grandi .................



Hugo is an
orphan boy living in the walls of a train station in 1930s Paris. He learned to fix clocks and other gadgets from his
father and uncle which he puts to use keeping the train 

station clocks running. The only thing that he has
left that connects him to his dead father is an automaton (mechanical man) that doesn't work without a special key which
Hugo needs to 

find to unlock the secret he believes it contains. On his adventures, he meets with a
shopkeeper, George Melies, who works in the train station and his adventure-seeking god-daughter. Hugo 

finds
that they have a surprising connection to his father and the automaton, and he discovers it unlocks some memories the
old man has buried inside regarding his past............
